The JAN, The LOK and the PAL...

The final meeting of the drafting committee is over. And it has been a successful one... for the Govt.

Apparently the JAN LOK PAL bill draft which is supposed to do good to the JAN (public) and the LOK(aam aadmi).. is or actually going to be a good PAL for the corrupt.

What have we done??? Call me a sceptic.. but seriously we have messed up big time!!

We have been very very wrong in some of our assumptions, for eg. the assumption that a strong bill can be passed through constitutional means...
The bill has to ultimately go through the Lok Sabha.. and would the devil stand up and pass a rule saying... hang the devil, he is evil!!!

The govt. had its pangs so spread out during drafting... you can imagine what the drill will be when it is presented to the parliament.

We have already seen much fuss over the drafting of the Bill... In its initial days, like Arjuna listening to Shri Krishna in the battlefield, the JAN caught each and every word dropped out by team Anna. Initially it was something out of the routine, something new and the public was happy to have a new "soap" to glue to.. new coffee table topics to talk about.. but now  to the JANLOK it is just another routine news..

The smear campaign that followed, the confusion over PM coming under LokPal ambit, the Baba Ramdev fiasco... This has all taken the sheen out of the movement..!!
What happens next... If the bill isn't passed, Anna threatens to go on an indefinite fast again!
Last time he fasted, 30,000 people accompanied him at Jantar mantar. But this time (Call me the skeptic, you are free to do so..) how many people do you think are hoping to turn up!

This is India, people have to toil for their daily breads. They have to run their business, attend offices and they have to feed their kids! They don't have time for a "roz roz ka chakkar". They cannot afford to lose their spine to "police ke dande".. and they are scared for it! Making a drawing room declaration is actually different then acting on it... Sharing links on facebook is easier than staying without food...

The Govt. (In that matter, all politicians have) has already figured out the way we Indians work.Like tin cans, we can heat up quickly, and cool down sooner! We tend to work from behind the safety barricade.. andit is justified... who wants to die for a corrupt nation...?? we want to LIVE in a corruption-free India!!!
